invigilator

work

Minutes after I received an invitation to Walk to Work from Kevin Ryan and Paul Conneally, I had to travel to the gallery where I was employed as an invigilator. This is what I wrote down as I walked:

Right, Right, Left, Left, Right, Straight over, Straight over, Straight over, Right, Delay of 32 minutes, Right, Left, Left, Right, Left, Right, Straight over, Straight over, Straight over, Straight over, Left, Left.

Invigilator is therefore a series of alternative work shifts performed after transposing my journey of that day onto different locations. Distilled into its essence: the simple act of watching-over.

Or, as Paul put it:

transform us

are transformed
